In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film on a rural Texas farm, but when their estranged, elderly owners catch them in the act, the crew is left fighting for their lives. The day after X (2022) ) South by Southwest premiered, writer/director Ti West revealed that he wrote the prequel to Pearl (2022) during a mandatory two-week COVID-19 quarantine at his New Zealand hotel before production could begin. A24 saw the script and greenlit the film even before production on "X" was wrapped.
A prequel was released later in 2022
He asked star Mia Gott if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and film The Pearl, and she happily accepted. When Lauren goes into the basement and turns on the light, a modern halogen bulb is available. The title doesn’t even appear on the screen until the end.

That’s literally the whole movie. 'Action and sharp' is actually quite tame. The characters are idiots.
