Many viewers have been told stories from a similar perspective, but the show remains exciting here, as it weaves together a more confusing yet well-connected plot with female lead characters, each of whom confidently holds our attention as they appear. We can’t tell halfway through whether that sense of urgency as we discover more and more of what’s going on will remain at its current level, but given the scale, budget, and talent it took to bring this to the screen, it’s going to be a hard one to miss, especially given the series’ solid foundation.
