After the untimely death of his father, a young boy is left with his recently widowed stepmother in the haunted solitude of a sprawling country estate. As his stepmother struggles to cope with the overwhelming task of parenthood, she moves away and their fragile bond threatens to break. Amid the mounting tension, the boy hears disturbing noises echoing through the corridors and is soon haunted by the presence of a grotesque creature that bears an unsettling, familiar resemblance to his deceased father. As the boy’s warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, a sinister entity tightens its hold on their crumbling lives.
